There's More for Me

"...consider the fact that you are more than just somebody's wife, more than just somebody's mom, more than just somebody's daughter. God is dreaming great dreams and He has a noble purpose for you."
p. 167, The Mentoring Mom

There are times during my week when I wonder what my purpose in life is. Beyond laundry. Washing dishes. Cleaning up after four kids....did I mention laundry? Outside of my family, what does God have for me? I know there are things beyond these four walls.

Don't get me wrong. Where I am right now as a wife, a mother, a teacher to my part of God's purpose for me. I know that with all my heart. Each day I understand more deeply the importance of where He has placed me right now in this moment.

I am not trying to make light of that in any way ~ because nothing would more greatly please the Enemy. My role as a wife and mother is incredibly important. Immeasurably so.

But it is a part of His purpose for me. Each day I have even more chances to bring honor to God. With every moment there are opportunities to glorify God. Become more of the woman that He created me to be.

I want so desperately to walk in all that He has called me to be, to do, and to say. Hear His voice. Know His dreams for me and be obedient in what He asks me to do.

Because I know that He has more in store for me.

"I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord has given to me ~ the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace."
Acts 20:24

  1. What a beautiful post. I completely agree. He has so much for us and it's crucial that we are open to ALL He has in store. Thanks for the reminder from Acts.

  2. Good post!!
It helped me focus, too. So often I get caught up in just getting through the day to day, instead of focusing on how God wants me to grow and develop to me more like Him.

Being a mom is a good job. Don't ever worry that you should be doing more.

  3. You sound like you are in the right place and living your life with intention. Great post.

  4. I think God's purpose for us unfolds. For some people, it seems so clear and easy. For others, like me, I have struggled to figure out my place and purpose. I've found that when I focus on being faithful today...with what God has given me today...that I can trust Him more with my future. It sounds simple, but it can be difficult to rest when you think there is "more" that you might be missing. I think His purpose will find YOU, embrace you and fill you - because you are already doing his purpose as a mom, a wife and a friend and follower. Deep thoughts....thank you for the wonderful prompt and the opportunity to think about serving a magnificent God, even in our small ways.

Running out the door to graduation ceremonies, just popped on the computer for a second!!

  5. Sometimes our lives seem right on target and all is right with the world and other times it seems completely's nice to know that it will change in a bit.
