This Too Shall Pass

A friend passed this link along to me, and aside from the song being fun, the video is WAY too amazing. The choreography in putting something like this together just boggles my mind…

We are big fans of the What’s in the Bible? DVDs at our house. They’ve traveled on vacation with us and as a mom, I love that adults can even enjoy them {if not learn a little something from them! Only Phil Visher can make the books of Numbers and Leviticus FUN for kids and have them walk away learning something they will remember.

LOVING Lark Rise to Candleford

This post may contain affiliate or advertiser links. Read my full disclosure policy here.

image

Just like I was swept away by the ladies of Cranford, the BBC series Lark Rise to Candleford has me completely distracted. It is a wonderfully done series which means even though I’ve almost finished watching the first season, there are two more seasons to follow.

Lark Rise to Candleford takes place at the end of the 19th century, and it follows the stories of two very different communities ~ the small little town of Lark Rise and the bustling town of Candleford.  The series focuses on Laura, a girl who leaves her small town to work with the post mistress there.

I am LOVING the humor, costumes, acting…very well done on so many different levels and one that I’m happy to have as a part of my period drama collection ~ and one that I’m glad to have nearby while I’m sitting and ‘resting’. :)

The Way Home DVD ~ Review & Giveaway

This post may contain affiliate or advertiser links. Read my full disclosure policy here.

image  From the Producer

Dean Cain stars as Randy Simpkins, a husband and father torn between the demands of his job and commitment to his family. Asked by his wife Christal to watch their two-year-old son Joe for a few minutes, Randy is distracted by work and Joe disappears. Racked by guilt, Randy joins Christal in a desperate search for their missing son alongside hundreds of others from their church and community. Randy and Christal’s strained marriage must now weather the ultimate test—the potential loss of a child. THE WAY HOME is the story of Randy's powerful spiritual journey back to love, faith and a Godly understanding of what must always take first priority in a man's life—his family.

Here’s a peek at the movie trailer.

My Thoughts

Finding movies that are family friendly and quality can sometimes be a difficult task. The Way Home is based on a true story of a couple whose son wandered off and the eight-hour search that ensued as they hoped to find their son alive. Watching the movie will send any parent on a rollercoaster of emotions ~ especially as it is easy to understand how any parent would feel faced with the possible loss of a child. Throughout the movie, Randy flashes back to points in his relationship with his children and family ~ realizing how his priorities have been misplaced.

The Way Home is a movie that will run you through a variety of emotions ~ and as one of the characters in the movie said best: “…it restores your faith in the goodness of people.” This movie is rated PG for brief tobacco use and thematic elements.

After 62 Years…

This post may contain affiliate or advertiser links. Read my full disclosure policy here.

My friend Libby posted this on her Facebook page recently and it just made me smile. This couple has been married for 62 years and this was just a ‘spur of the moment’ thing when they walked into the Mayo Clinic for a check-up.

p.s.

If you are actually reading my blog live and in person {as opposed to in a reader}, you might have noticed that I removed a little something in my right sidebar…the BlogHer ads.

It was nothing against the company at all and we parted on lovely terms ~ just some issues on my part that I felt were limiting me in what I could and couldn’t do…and since it’s my blog, I wanted to have a little more say-so. All that to say, with the ads being removed it gives me the opportunity to offer you all a little more too in the way of giveaways and such! And I love being able to share fun things with others, so that really is a win-win for me. :)

God Bless You, Chick-fil-A

This post may contain affiliate or advertiser links. Read my full disclosure policy here.

You might know that I'm a little fond of Chick-fil-A. Count me in if there are waffle fries involved.

Even BETTER if there is a peppermint chocolate chip milkshake on the line.

And if Tim Hawkins has a song to sing about it, I might as well be in Chick-fil-A heaven.

What’s in the Bible? Review & Giveaway!!

Official Stop On The What's In The Bible Blog Tour
Do you know what is in the Bible? Is the Bible true? What is a canon? Can you explain to your children what patriarchal history is?

If not, you are definitely not alone. Phil Vischer, the mind behind Veggie Tales, has created a new DVD series called What’s in the Bible? to help walk families through the Bible together in a fun and humorous way. The series will eventually have 13 DVDs covering it all ~ even the tough stuff, covering topics such as the DaVinci code, who picked the books to be in the Bible, and was the world literally created in 7 days.

The kids and I sat down to watch the first two episodes of What’s in the Bible? with Buck Denver and fell in love! If the entire series were available today I would most certainly invest in every single one of them for our family. Not only are the kids learning things {and laughing along}, I am learning and laughing too.

Want to get a little peek at the series and see for yourself? Check out this 3 minute clip.

I am so impressed with what I’ve seen that I’ve already been trying to figure out how we could incorporate the DVD series into our homeschool teaching ~ we love it that much. I am eagerly anticipating the release of future DVDs too. Running time for each is approximately 1 hour.

The first two DVDs in the What’s in the Bible? series are currently available
The Giveaway is now closed ~ thanks for entering!

Would you like to win a copy of Episode #1 ~ “In the Beginning” or Episode #2 ~ “Let My People Go”? Leave a comment on this post ~ be sure to include your email address! I will choose two different winners {one for each of the DVDs}. The giveaway will be open until Sunday, March 14th at 8pm.
