Homeopathic Remedies & Options

This post may contain affiliate or advertiser links. Read my full disclosure policy here.

Once I started having kids, I really began to pay attention to the medicines that we were using to help fight different things: colds, ear infections, teething pain, and even bumps and bruises. I had some great friends who suggested various homeopathic remedies for me to try with our kids ~ things that were natural and safe to use on both ourselves and them. Basically, homeopathic medicines are made from botanical, mineral, or natural substances.

I'll admit that I was a little bit skeptical at first, but over the years there have been more products added to my list {and medicine cupboard} that I would prefer to use. One of my favorite products has been Arnica Gel from Boiron, which helps lessen bruising and other 'trauma' ~ perfect for a family of over-active kids who bruise easily! It has really made a difference in the healing time of bruises ~ I'm serious!

With cold and flu season coming up, I want to have things on hand to use if our kids start getting sick. Last year I was so frustrated with the confusion on what could/couldn't be used for kids, especially since we had two that were younger than age 4. Boiron has a line of new homeopathic children's products ~ just in time for the cold/flu season.

We're fortunate to have a great health food store that carries a wide variety of homeopathic remedies and I know that there are some other major chains that carry various products. There is also a coupon for $1.00 off any of the above homeopathic medicines if you are interested ~ I know it's something that I will be putting in our cabinet to have on hand this fall and winter!

Just wanted to pass along a little something that is Working for Me!

  2. Interesting! I use Noni Extract for colds and flu from www.mynaturalhealthteam.com. I find that if you follow Dr. Howenstine's advice about taking 25 drops every 30 minutes for 4 hours at the beginning of a cold, it will lessen the duration and severity of the cold which is great for me because of my asthma.

I also like using the Melaluca triple antibiotic for cuts and bruises. And I use it on my dry cuticles to get them back into shape.

  4. Excellent suggestions.

I've been wanting to switch from the usual over-the-counter products. How do the medicines taste? Do your kids like the flavor?

  5. Hi there..I too love natural remedies especially for the kids...they really seem to work with your body to fix the problem not just block the symptoms. I try to make the kids remedies espeially for ear infections because my kids can't have sulfa or penicillin...(long story short we ended up in the e.r.) I must suggest a writer to all those interested in natural healing Rosemary gladstar she has wonderful books on natural healing including "herbal remedies for children's health" this book includes recipies for diaper rash cream, ear infection tinctures, herbal pops,as well as elderberry syrup...which is great for the connon cold (my kids LOVE it I can't I can't keep it in the house!! Another author I must recommend is Mary Bove and her book "An Encyclopedia of Natural healing for children and infants" a great in depth book packed with great recipies. I have since met both of these amazing writers at a yearly herbal convention I attend and these women are just so inspiring.
I could just sit and rave all day about natural healing it's so refreshing to be able to talk and not be criticize..my whole family thinks I'm a tree huggin' hippy freak..but yet they all come running to me with their health problems...Gotta love em'
sorry to take up so much of your comment box:-)
