4th of July Celebrities

Last year we made some fun 4th of July hats and ‘sparklers’ to celebrate the holiday. On parade day we sat front and center {waiting for the candy that would be thrown around} and caught the eye of a newspaper photographer.

The kids looked patriotic enough to land in the paper last year with a big ol’ picture and again this year {and really, who can blame the paper ~ they are pretty cute!}. I even managed to squeak into the corner of one of the pictures.

The kids are thrilled, of course, and willing to autograph your paper if you so desire.

4th picture Now I’m on a hunt to come up with some more ideas that will top our crafts from last year.

Any ideas?

  1. Hmm. Well, it's no help for day time, but you could always do glowing hair...

  5. Has the parade already been? Somehow I thought it was on Sat. But, congratulations on your new celebrity status! Your kids are outrageously cute. I can see why they chose them for a photo.

  7. How cute! I love the hats. I've never thought about doing that for a parade. What a fun idea, no wonder you all made the paper. Love it.

  8. Love the hats! I saw them in Family Fun magazine last year. We almost made them, but opted for patriotic t-shirts instead. They turned out great! My next post at the Homeschool Classroom (which will post on July 1st) will highlight two of our t-shirt designs. We're working on a third design tonight and tomorrow. I hope to have that one posted on my blog in the next day or two. I will say we get compliments on those shirts on the Fourth - and all year long. The boys wear them FREQUENTLY!
