Zachary apparently knows that he is generally at the center of most {how to put it nicely}…issues.

We were at our local children’s museum the other day playing and Zachary was waaaaay at the front of the museum. A little girl at the far back of the museum started crying.

I was sitting near a friend and immediately said, “Oh…I hope that wasn’t because of one of my kids {meaning Zachary}.”

He hadn’t ~ the little girl had fallen on the stairs, but not five seconds later I heard Zachary yell ~ “I DIDN’T DO IT!!!”

  2. Ah yes, the "it must have been my child" syndrome. I have it, too... because it usually IS my child.

I was at Barnes and Noble with the kids last summer. I was looking at children's books near the Thomas the Tank Engine play table the store has set up. Connor (then 5, almost 6) was playing with the trains. A little boy started to cry, and I looked over with my, "What did you do?!" look. Connor stepped back, put up both hands, and said pointedly, "It wasn't ME!" To which the Mom of the crying child added, "Oh, no, he's fine. Mine just didn't want to leave."

Sigh, I found it humbling to realize that I EXPECT my child to be the cause of all trouble. Not a great advocate, am I?! Well, it's something I am working on... now, if only Connor WASN'T so frequently the cause of the "issues"...
