I Need to Loosen Up

I'm thinking that perhaps I should just relax a little when it comes to my kids and the craft department.

Maybe stop rationing out craft supplies like we may never find them again. If you were listening in, a conversation on craft supply usage between one of my children and I might go a little something like this:

Child: Mom. Could I have some popsicle sticks.
Me: Sure. But you can only have 5. Five, ok?
Child: But, Mom - I would like to make a life-sized replica of Abe Lincoln's cabin.
Me: Fine (huff). Then you can take 10.

A good indicator of this craft hoarding rationing would be the layer of dust coating one of our many craft boxes, containing somewhere in the vicinity of 482 popsicle sticks.

Dust that was thick enough my children could use it as a craft project of their own.

    Unfortunately, my irrationality continues. [sigh]

  3. at least you didnt go to target's school supply clearance at 75% and 90% - stock up on every supply you could get your hands on and now havent used any of them - let me say that again - any of them!!!

  4. Thanks for the reminder. I loosened up with my cooking--I let my son play in the flour while I roll out pie crusts. Yeah, it wastes some, but hey, he's having fun, and really how much can 1/2 a cup, or well, maybe a cup, of flour actually cost? Much less than an amusement park ride!

Why save things just to save them? They're here to USE!

Again, thanks for the reminder and how about 50 popsicle sticks for a cabin? (It might be 2 stories high!)

  5. I can relate. I have a hard time letting my son use his box of Crayola crayons. They're just so purty. :-D

  6. Just a thought, but you could donate those 482 popsicle sticks to the children's museum. Ok, only 400, you keep 82. I'm just saying.
