Praying for Jonah

When you have a few minutes today, there's a little boy that could use your prayers and a complete healing from God.

His name is Jonah and he was born with a rare genetic skin disorder called EB and this little boy is fighting for his life. You can visit his mom's blog to check on updates on him - they would so appreciate your prayers on his behalf.

Losing the Landline ~ XLint BT

We finally did it. Disconnected the land line and went with just cellular.

My biggest fear was losing that single little cell phone and trying to keep track of it...because you may remember that I have a certain penchant for dropping said phone into the toilet.

And finding one of our regular handsets when we had a land line can be difficult enough, because those phones seem to walk off and hide themselves in the oddest little places.

Until we found a lovely little item called the Xlink-cell Bluetooth Gateway. If you have a cell phone that has bluetooth capability, you are able to send and receive cell phone calls using your regular handsets at home.

Are you following me?

When your cell phone rings, your home handset rings and you can answer it and make outgoing calls just like you do with a land line. We place our cell phone where it receives the best reception and have the Xlink sitting right next to it. There are no cords to plug into your cell phone - it picks up the bluetooth and uses that.

If you're wanting to know how it works? Splendid, I tell ya! We've been using it for a few weeks, but we mentioned it to my dad several months ago (knowing he would be a great guinea pig) and he hasn't had any problems with it - so we took the plunge too.

Pretty amazing and lovely if you ask me. We are saving money by not having our land line since our cell phone has long distance and everything all rolled into one. We also didn't want to lose our home phone number that we'd had for years and years, so we had our home phone number transferred over (ported) as our cell phone number. We purchased our Xlink-cell Bluetooth Gateway from Amazon for about $100, but know that it will pay for itself in just a few months (depending on what your land line bill is).

And on a side note, we are still able to use 911 with this too. Tried, tested and works thanks to a certain 4-year-old who shall remain nameless. But at least he knows how to dial 911.

Just wanted to pass along a little something that is Working for Me!

What Do You Fill Moats With?

This post may contain affiliate or advertiser links. Read my full disclosure policy here.

Zachary was sitting at the table writing and asked the girls, "What's Mommy's middle name?"

Quiet pause while no one answers...

Zachary: You know. The name you use when she's in trouble..."

I had to hide I was laughing so hard. It is so true. The middle names only are heard when they are in trouble...

We were studying castles and moats this last week for school and I was asking the girls for definitions for some of their vocabulary words.

Me: "McKenna, what is a moat?"

M: "The water around a castle."

Me: (looking more to hear 'the ditch filled with water around the castle') "Ummm...It's not 'water around a castle'."

M: Thinking..."Well, it could be chocolate milk."

Yes, that's how the castles were protected. It was the chocolate milk that kept others at bay...

And more questions for McKenna:

Me: McKenna, what is a 'merlon'? (part of a castle wall)

McKenna: OH! That's the guy in the Magic Tree House books!

Yeah...not so much.

Shred What?

I do believe that Jillian Michaels is out to kill me.

If I'm still alive after 30 days and able to move at that point, I'll let you know if the dvd actually accomplishes something other than a near-death experience.

Because after only the first level workout tonight I thought that I might pass out. I'm scared to death to watch the second two levels - even if I'm sitting down.

Do not be fooled by how simple it looks! It's simply deceptive. And even though your mind may be tricked, your body will be hating you.

And your legs will refuse to walk down the stairs to your basement. Making you wonder if you should just sit down and take the stairs on your bum instead.

But once you get to the bottom, how do you get back up?

I told you yesterday that Behemoth.com is offering the first Jonathan Park album for free through this Saturday the 28th, and today only (Friday) they are also offering a free track from Jonathan Park Goes to the Aquarium as a FREE download.

I posted more specific instructions on downloading the first Jonathan Park adventure in yesterday's post - and they need to be followed exactly, or the download won't show up for free. :)

This audio series is a guide to 100 of the most popular marine creatures and has 100 2-minute segments that talk about some of the amazing features that the different animals have.

Quick! Hop over and grab that one too!

Not to Make You Jealous...

This post may contain affiliate or advertiser links. Read my full disclosure policy here.

Oh, really. Who am I kidding?

In just a few days I get to go on a business trip with my hubby. His business, not mine. I just get to tag along and enjoy the ride.

And two nights without children.

I'm not sure if I can handle it. Since having Laurianna almost 8 years ago...well, time away and longer than 24 hours just hasn't happened.

Since my parents are living with us at the moment we're taking FULL advantage of their generosity, and might just suck all their well intentions dry.

Because in 3 weeks I'm going to tag along to Puerto Rico. Sit by the pool all day and be gone for FOUR DAYS. My children may forget who I am.

I'm serious when I tell you that I'm already packing. I'm that excited!
