My Little Girl Wants to Be a Missionary

Laurianna talks a lot about what she wants to be when she grows up. She’s past the stage where being a princess is top on her list, and nowadays her answer is focused on three things: an artist, a writer/teacher, and a missionary.

Her heart and compassion overwhelm me at times. While the thought of her being far, far away from us someday makes me start taking deep breaths, I KNOW that whatever God puts on her heart and where ever God leads her is ok.

Last week, before we sent off our shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child, she wanted to write a letter to the little girl that would be receiving her box. She had picked out every one of the presents in the box and took the time to describe each gift and WHY she had included them in the box.

This line just made me cry:

“Just like the erasers erase things, Jesus erased our sins by dying for us on the cross. He did it because He loved us. And he loves you too!”

The willingness and openness that she has to share Jesus with other people just makes my heart soar.

  6. What a sweet heart she has!!

Makes me think of a story I heard on the Christian radio recently about a young girl who sent a shoebox for Christmas and corresponded for years with the girl, they fell out of touch and then just recently (as adults) they found each other on Facebook!

The girl who received the box was still thankful for the gifts and the writing back and forth after all these years.

It was very sweet and it makes you realize how just a little of something can make a world of difference in someone else's life!

  8. What a sweet girl! My DD Makenzie started a mission called Punky Monkey Missions and she uses the scripture 1 Timothy 4:12 Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. So please share that with your daughter!

  9. Sweet. Precious. Profound.

I have so enjoyed having Laurianna in co-op this year, she is a true delight to have around! We've shared the ups and downs of being the firstborn daughter of four children. Now that I know she wants to be a missionary, I'll have even more tales to share with her!
