Spring Reading Thing 2010

This post may contain affiliate or advertiser links. Read my full disclosure policy here.

When I first sat down to look at the books that I wanted to read this spring, I didn’t think I had too many to read.

Then I realized that I have a HUGE ol’ pile of books sitting on my dresser. Definitely enough to keep me busy for quite some time.

This week I’ll be finishing up my biggest book reading endeavor ~ reading through the Bible in 90 Days. I am on schedule to finish up on March 29th. I am working on a plan to read through the Bible again, but this time I would like read it at a little slower pace ~ and chronologically {that’s why I have one of the books on my list below}.

Here is the pile of books that I am definitely focusing on over the next little bit, listed in order how I’m planning to read them. I will be writing reviews on quite a few of these and also hosting some giveaways on Saturdays. Here are the books {so far} in my pile.

Fiction

~ Here Burns My Candle by Liz Curtis Higgs ~ a retelling of the story of Ruth and Naomi set in the late 1700’s in Scotland

~ Beguiled ~ Deanne Gist & J. Mark Bertrand

~ Menu for Romance  by Kaye Dacus ~ I’ve read the other two books in the Brides of Bonneterre series and really enjoyed them

~ Not a Sparrow Falls ~ Linda Nichols

~ Hunter’s Moon ~ Don Hoesel

~ Michal by Jill Eileen Smith ~ a story written from the perspective of Michal, King David’s first wife

~ Ransome’s Crossing by Kaye Dacus ~ this book is scheduled to release June 1st and I’ve already added it to my Amazon cart in anticipation of reading it! If you love Jane Austen books, be sure to check out The Ransome Trilogy by Kaye!

~ Eighth Shepherd / Ninth Witness / Tenth Stone by Bodie and Brock Thoene ~ all are a part in the A.D. Chronicles series

Non-Fiction

~ Chronological Guide to the Bible ~ Thomas Nelson

~ The Heart of Anger by Lou Priolo ~Bible study time with a friend is back on soon.

~ The Bible ~ hopefully 1/3 of the way through it again by the end of the this reading challenge!

Spring Reading Thing 2010 is hosted by Katrina at Callapidder Days and runs from March 20th til June 20th. If you are interested in joining up, or learning more, be sure to stop by and visit!

  1. I think it's awesome that you're on track to read the Bible in 90 days. I'm reading through it this year, but a year is much different than 90 days! Your list looks great. Hunter's Moon is on my want-to-read list, though it didn't officially make it onto my SRT list. And Beguiled looks intriguing -- interesting mix of authors.

Thanks for being part of the challenge, Jolanthe! Enjoy your reading!

  3. Jolanthe,

I need to begin and really study my Bible this year. Besides just reading it, like you I want to study it, lay out maps and see where it all took place, identify the people and see where their lives lead them as we continue to read.

Like you, I have many, many books to get through, my personal choice, the hardest sometimes is which to pick up first.

  4. Jolanthe,

I'm not sure how you do it in between homeschooling and all of the projects you share w/us on your other blog, but more power to you (especially since my children benefit from your appreciated efforts).

I didn't add it to my list, but I too want to read through the Bible, in full w/no overview, etc. I have been caught too many times where people have asked me if I remember a story in the Bible and I haven't got a clue. I'm tired or looking puzzled or just nodding.

Hunter’s Moon sounds like a book that might interest me. One can never get enough of a good family drama; especially when it isn’t in their own.

    Have fun reading.

  8. Wow, through the bible in 90 days. That is awesome. I'm on a one year chronological plan and that is tough when I hit books like Leviticus. I think I'd like to add Linda Nichols book to my list. It looks interesting.
