Pamper Yourself ~ Little Leaps of Love

Part of being a good wife and a great mom is being able to take a few minutes to RELAX and unwind. A stressed woman does not make for a happy household. I'm sure you all have no idea what I am talking about. I know this seems like a "duh" statement, but how often do we truly take a minute to breathe, unwind, and just REST? We can get so caught up in all the things that we feel we need "to do", that we forget to fully enjoy what we have.

There are days in my house when I count myself blessed to have been able to use the bathroom with the door closed. Or when answering the phone requires a run into the closet so that the screams of my children are a dull roar. By the end of the day I am spent, tired, and feel that I have so little to give to my children and to my husband.

Today's Little Leap of Love is to pamper yourself - five minutes, ten minutes...just do something that brings rest to you and relaxes you! Soak in the tub. Curl up in a comfy place with a good book. Give yourself a little facial. Have a cup of tea. Do a suduko puzzle...if it brings you rest, just pamper yourself a little bit {or a whole lot!}. You and your family will be thankful you did!

It’s a Date!! ~ Little Leaps of Love

Sometimes you don't need to "go out" to have a date with your husband. When you have young kids, it can be easier (and lots cheaper, I'll admit) not to go out all the time. Sometimes you just need to be a little creative, put the kids to bed a little earlier than normal if possible, wipe the sticky stuff off the table, spread out a nice tablecloth, set out the nice dishes, DRESS UP, and have a romantic little dinner with your spouse right at home. Light some candles. Put on some soft music. You're getting the picture, right?

Today, spend a little time planning a night for just you and your husband. The dinner doesn't have to be tonight - but it needs to be soon (before the weekend is over)! Doesn't have to cost a lot and you don't need to find a babysitter...just carve out the time to focus on your marriage and showing your spouse how much you care about him. Make him his favorite meal. Wear a dress that makes him smile (and take the time to put a little something nice underneath it too!). Sit next to him. Hold his hand. Flirt with him.

And if there are interruptions...well, be patient. Laugh. And remember that those "interruptions" are the result of the love you two share.

Put a Stamp on It ~ Little Leaps of Love

Do you love to get mail? Truly anything other than a bill is lovely. I know when our mail truck arrives just by the sound of the engine. And a letter...a package....ahhhh....they thrill me to death. If I get excited when I get mail, it is nothing compared to the squeals of excitement that a card or letter elicit when addressed to one of my children.

Today's leap of love involves mailing a note of love. It doesn't have to be anything extravagant - just a fun handmade card, a quick note to say "I love you" - but it needs to have a stamp on it and be put in the mailbox. Mail a note to your husband at work, your grandmother who hasn't heard from you in months, or put some stickers in a card for your kids. Go ahead...make their day!

You can earn additional bonus points on this leap: 10 points extra per note mailed.

Move It! ~ Little Leaps of Love

Is the cold weather driving you your little ones crazy? Cooped up inside the house? Bundle everyone up today (make sure everyone pees first...if you don't have little ones, I'm sure you'll be ok on this one!!) and take a little walk together. Yes, I know it's cold, but the fresh air just might do you all a little good, get the wiggles out of the little ones, and give you a chance to get out of the house!! I know that our kids ask every ten minutes daily if they can play, ride bikes, etc... Today, we'll walk around the neighborhood. I might even get brave and pull the bikes out.

Bundle up. Hold hands. Chase those kids around the yard - even if it is just for a ten minutes! If your kids are too little to run, a nice walk in the stroller will do.

No kids? Grab your husband when he gets home and go for a quick walk while dinner is in the oven. Or take a moonlit walk with your hubby. Just get out of the house...and a stroll around Costco doesn't count! {grins}

Pack a Picnic ~ Little Leaps of Love

...pack up a picnic basket. Yes, I know it's February, but everyone loves a picnic!

Despite the fact that it is windy and cold, my kids are always begging to wear their summer clothing, so I might just even let them dress in their summer cuteness and turn up the heat a little when I pack us all a lunch to just have fun together. This may be one of the only times they are allowed to bring guest to the "table" with them to...in the form of their dolls and various other stuffed animals.

Sometime this weekend, spread out a picnic blanket somewhere in your house, throw lots of pillows on the floor and have your breakfast, lunch, or dinner in a little different style. I can guarantee that you’ll have some happy kids and if you’re up for it ~ you might even have fun too!

Mother-in-Law ~ Little Leaps of Love

If you Google the word "Mother-in-law" you are guaranteed to come up with a long list of sites that have endless jokes and quotes about mother-in-laws. And generally speaking, none of them are very positive. A movie with such a name has even been made. Songs have been written. While I know that there are some in-laws that can be a bit "out there", thankfully mine isn't one of them {and I'm not writing that because I know she might be reading my blog!}. I have been immensely blessed with a great mother-in-law.

I don't know how your relationship is with yours, but today's little leap  focuses on that woman in your life. Years ago, she brought someone into this world, chased him around the house, cleaned up after him...and now he's yours to chase around the house and...well, he's all yours. {grins}

And you love him.

Take the time today to write a quick note to your MIL and let her know that you love her, are thankful for her, and appreciate that she raised an amazing son. If it's hard for you to do that, find some way to encourage her. Maybe a Scripture verse that means something to you. Do something to show her she is appreciated. And loved. Make her day. Bring a smile to her face. It doesn't have to be huge - just a little something.
