Questions on Heaven

This post may contain affiliate or advertiser links. Read my full disclosure policy here.

The kids were all talking about what Heaven would be like and after a bit finally asked if we would be able to choose how old we were when we get to Heaven.

I asked McKenna how old she would want to be and she thought about it for a minute and said: "I think 15."

"Why 15?"

"Because then I would be able to drive all over Heaven!"

Still on the topic of Heaven, Laurianna wanted to know about the food. Where will it be? Will we have to cook? Will we have to pay for it?

I told her I didn't think we'd be paying for our food.

**** Insert big eyes, smile and intake of breath here ****

"You mean it will be FREE and we can eat as much as we WANT? I can't WAIT!"

(yes, Heaven is just the deluxe Golden Corral, folks)

Before getting Zachary and Kaleb up for the morning I overheard Zachary talking to Kaleb, who is still confined to his crib.

Z: "Do you want to get out of your crib, buddy?"

K: silence

Z: "I'll get you out. Can you say "Hallelujah!" (trying to get him to raise his hands). "I can see your belly button, buddy!"

Just picturing this conversation was just too cute for me.

Nature Belongs Just There...In Nature

This post may contain affiliate or advertiser links. Read my full disclosure policy here.

The other morning I woke up to the sound of crickets and snuggled deep under my covers, loving the sounds of nature.

Until I realized that the windows were closed and nature was IN my house.

I'm all for nature as long as that's where it is - where it belongs.

Secretly I grin when my kids tell me that they've killed a cricket or found another one that has gone to the great eternal field in the sky.

And you probably don't want to know (but I'll tell you anyway) that I found great satisfaction in quickly shutting the washing machine lid the other day - rendering a poor, helpless cricket incapable of escaping from the spin-cycle of death.

Proof positive by the one little leg I found later at the bottom of the machine.

Precious Girls Club

There is a great new site available for girls called Precious Girls Club, put together through Precious Moments. Precious Girls Club is based on a little girl named Katie and her friends and focuses on values embraced by Precious Moments: helpfulness, responsibility, kindness, and love.

Girls can create their own characters, play games, decorate their room and more through the site. The focus of the site is to reinforce virtues in the girls in a fun and exciting way. They can "chat" online using pre-written questions and sentences.

Mothers can participate in their daughter's activities by emailing and awarding "points" and "charms" and help integrate activities between home and her online activities. You can read more about tying into your daughter's activities here.

There is a great introductory video on the main page so that you can check it out for yourself. I am looking forward to sharing this site with my girls today (and I am certain they are going to be thrilled with this!).

A Peek Into my Cupboards

This post may contain affiliate or advertiser links. Read my full disclosure policy here.

Kitchen cupboards can be scary places, because sometimes you never know what might be lurking in the depths.

I speak this from experience and am referring to the time that I discovered all my leftover Easter candy (my hidden stash, mind you) was being devoured by a sneaky little "friend".

And he was rude enough to leave the wrappers behind to taunt me.

I had the opportunity to meet him face to face one evening when I opened up my cupboard. He didn't stick around for introductions and a few nights later he was evicted.

That incident, however, brought my cupboards to where I am today. The thought of little mouse feet scampering through my food and hard-earned candy pushed me into Tupperware Modular Mates. And before you click away, thinking "too EXPENSIVE!!" hear me out - cause I'm about to give you a lovely tip.

Wait until JANUARY!! Tupperware always has a HUGE sale on their Modular Mates. Specials galore - and it's definitely the time to buy them!! I've gotten mine in spurts over the years for both my cupboards and my freezer and LOVE them - because everything has a place (well, except the peanut butter and such).

To give you an idea of how the cupboards look, here are some pictures of my cupboards and my freezer (different containers in the freezer, but by Tupperware too).

Here's the nutshell of how they work: there are 5 sizes of containers, and they all work together in their sizes. For example, a #4 container is the same heighth as a #1 plus a #3 stacked on top of each other. That allows you to use different size containers based on the type of item you need to put inside. I have a few containers that contain a hodge-podge of things (chocolate chips, shortening, etcc) and have it labeled: Baking Things.

My freezer also has containers and it makes it SO much easier to find things (or direct others where to find them). My biggest suggestion would be - label everything you put into ziploc bags or containers. You might think you'll remember what it is, but a few months later you'll be staring at a mystery something-or-other and scratching your head. I've even gone so far as to label the shelves above my pull-out drawers in the freezer to remember what is in the drawers.

If you happen to live near me and want to take advantage of my sickness passion for organizing, let me know and I'll have fun measuring out your cupboards and will even find a labeler...I've done it before and I'd do it again!

Pencils in Heaven?

This post may contain affiliate or advertiser links. Read my full disclosure policy here.

There are days when I truly sit and ponder how kid's brains work, although I'm sure it's all a great mystery since I can't even figure out my own thought patterns at times. Sigh.

Zachary came up to me and asked, "Did you know there aren't any pencils in Heaven?"

Me: There aren't?

Zachary: Nope. Heaven isn't in Pennsylvania, so there are no pencils in Heaven.

At least we know that he's picking up on our geography studies, eh?
